Prospects for scientific cooperation between Russia and Brazil in the Sustainable Development of the Arctic

Over the past decades, Brazil has been consistently interested in the Arctic as an area for sustainable development. Both Brazil and Russia have common positions on a number of issues, including climate change and the conservation of Arctic and Amazonian ecosystems, the preservation of indigenous peoples, etc. The constructive cooperation of Brazil and Russia under the G20 and BRICS contributes to a multi-polar world and the incorporation of the principles of equality, mutual consideration of interests and international law in international relations.

The event will be dedicated to the current state and prospects for bilateral and multilateral scientific cooperation between Brazil and Russia in the Arctic. The session will focus on the role of Brazil in achieving sustainable development in the Arctic, the economic interests and prospects for scientific cooperation between Russia and Brazil in the Arctic, common approaches to the concept of ecosystem conservation and the climate narrative of Brazil and Russia, and the approaches of Russia and Brazil in preserving indigenous peoples. The main goal of the conference will be to elaborate on the key promising areas of cooperation in the Arctic including economic issues.
