
The “Arctic Floating University 2022: The Changing Arctic” expedition took place from 24 to 11 July as part of the main events of Russia’s chairmanship in the Arctic Council in 2021–2023. The Roscongress Foundation is organizing the chairmanship events.
The Professor Molchanov research vessel with 45 participants selected by a competition (postgraduates, students, and researchers) made a circular voyage from Arkhangelsk to the islands of the Novaya Zemlya archipelago.
The research programme included the study of hydrological, ecological, and biological processes in the seas of the Arctic Ocean. The educational programme included modules on oceanology, biodiversity, and climate change in the Arctic.
The expedition was organized by Northern (Arctic) Federal University and the Northern Directorate for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring.
