There are 539 hotels and 126 tour providers in the entire Arctic Region. Before the pandemic, traveller flows had shown a positive growth dynamic for two years, and the earnings of tour providers increased accordingly. With the launch of the national revitalisation plan for the Arctic, Russia will trigger a new cycle of infrastructure improvement in the region, according to experts.
Russia’s revitalisation vision for the Arctic places a strong emphasis on tourism. The corresponding document was approved by the President of the Russian Federation on 5 March and provides for the development of the Arctic until 2035.
