‘Bering Strait’ International Festival

The Bering Strait International Festival took place on 2–7 August in Chukotka as part of the plan for the main events of Russia’s chairmanship of the Arctic Council in 2021–2023, which is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation.

The festival programme included the Arctic Travellers business forum, the Bering Games sports competitions, and an expedition around the region. There were the Beringia Regatta of Sea Hunters on traditional сhukotka canoes, as well as festive events dedicated to the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. The programme concluded at Cape Dezhnev, the extreme eastern mainland point of Eurasia, where the expedition members planted the flags of the festival.

The festival was organized by the Government of the Chukotka Autonomous District and the Russian Tourism Agency.
