Russian North Youth Forum of the Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia, and the Far East took place on 22–25 November in Salekhard as part of the plan for the main events of Russia’s chairmanship of the Arctic Council in 2021–2023, which is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation.
The event programme included panel discussions that were attended by experts and honoured guests, training sessions, master classes, and various platforms to exchange experience. The forum participants were divided into three groups in which they discussed issues concerning youth entrepreneurship, the preservation and promotion of language heritage, the development of ethno-tourism, and sustainable development practices.
As part of the cultural programme, participants took sightseeing trips to the places where indigenous peoples traditionally reside, learnt about their customs, traditions, holidays, and literature in their national languages. A northern multi-sport tournament, intellectual quiz, and other events were organized as well.
