International Exhibition and Fair of Achievements in the Area of Culture and Traditional Economic Activities of the Indigenous Small-Numbered Peoples of the North

6th ‘Treasures of the Sami Land’ International Exhibition and Fair of the Cultural and Traditional Economic Achievements of the Indigenous Peoples of the North took place in Murmansk on 25–27 November as part of the plan for the main events of Russia’s chairmanship of the Arctic Council in 2021–2023, which is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation.

The business programme included the forum ‘Preserving the Culture of the Indigenous Peoples of the Arctic: New Approaches and Prospects for Development’. Its participants discussed ways to support the ethno-cultural heritage, spiritual wealth, and cultural identity of small-numbered ethnic groups and promote traditional and modern folk crafts, handicrafts, and the national traditions of the Indigenous Peoples.

Visitors attended educational lectures and master classes, presentations of works on the Sami theme, projects that aim to ensure the socioeconomic and cultural development of the Indigenous Peoples of the North, and such competitions as ‘Best Work of National Folk Art’ and ‘Best National Costume’.
