International Seminar on the Preservation and Promotion of the Languages of the Indigenous Peoples of the Arctic

The International Seminar on the Preservation and Promotion of the Languages of the Indigenous Minorities of the Arctic took place on 17–18 March in St. Petersburg as part of the main events of Russia’s chairmanship of the Arctic Council in 2021–2023. The Roscongress Foundation is managing the events of Russia’s chairmanship.

The seminar programme included sections on problems associated with teaching and promoting the languages of indigenous minorities as well as such issues as literary creativity and the use of IT technologies in this area. In addition, the event supported a discussion of the Arctic Council’s project “Digitalization of the Linguistic and Cultural Heritage of the Indigenous Peoples of the Arctic”.

The Seminar took place at the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia.
