Indigenous Lives: Preserving Traditions, Developing the Economy and Improving the Standard of Living

The session ‘Indigenous Lives: Preserving Traditions, Developing the Economy and Improving the Standard of Living’ took place on 8 September in Vladivostok on the sidelines of the 7th Eastern Economic Forum as part of the plan for the main events of Russia’s chairmanship of the Arctic Council in 2021–2023, which is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation.

The discussion was focused to the items how indigenous peoples face new challenges and threats, namely the need to expand their own economic potential in order to strengthen their autonomous systems of livelihood, due to globalization, economic growth, and the resulting transformation of the system of social relations. The number of session participants included Russian officials and the representatives of business and non-profit organizations.
