The Bering Strait International Festival took place on 4–11 August in Chukotka, supported by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, as part of the plan for the main events of Russia’s chairmanship of the Arctic Council in 2021–2023, which is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation.
The festival business programme – the Arctic Travellers business forum – was dedicated to tourism industry development of the Arctic. The sport programme – the Beringia Games – included such folk competitions as the one foot high kick and the sledge jump among others. The 2023 Beringia Regatta was taking place during the festival in a form of team races on leather kayaks. Special tours were organized for journalists and for tourism agents.
