Conference for the Arctic Ocean Shelf Development to be Held in Saint Petersburg

From September 21 to September 24, 2021, Saint Petersburg will host the RAO/CIS Offshore 2021 International Exhibition and Conference for the Development of Oil and Gas Resources of the Russian Arctic and the Continental Shelf.

The event is held under the Chairmanship of the Russian Federation in the Arctic Council in 2021–2023. The operator of the Chairmanship is the Roscongress Foundation.

The event is held every two years, and for more than twenty five years of history has retained the status of the main international forum for considering the key issues of integrated development of the continental shelf, primarily the seas of the Arctic Ocean, the Far East and the development of the Northern Sea Route.

The RAO/CIS Offshore 2021 program includes two plenary sessions, a number of round tables, discussions and consultations with the participation of Russian and foreign experts, the work of an exhibition display presenting projects for the development of oil and gas fields in the Russian Arctic and the continental shelf, equipment and technologies for drilling and development of offshore hydrocarbon fields and ensuring safety during offshore operations, with the central place occupied by the joint stand of St. Petersburg enterprises (Organizer: Committee for Arctic Affairs of the Government of St. Petersburg).

The main topic of the Plenary Session of the conference under the Chairmanship of the Russian Federation in the Arctic Council will be “Arctic Ocean Shelf Development”. The second plenary session will involve a discussion on ways of mutually beneficial cooperation between science and industry in the development of the Russian Arctic and the continental shelf.

The forum will traditionally host the summing up and awarding of the winners of the Arctic and Continental Shelf International Contest of Scientific, Technical and Innovative Developments for the Development and Exploitation of the Arctic and Continental Shelf, organized by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, organized by the Ministry of Energy of Russia; a Youth Session will be held to discuss promising developments of young scientists and students and issues of training of the personnel for offshore oil and gas production. For the first time, the program will include a discussion of issues of marine and Arctic medicine.
