Innosocium Foundation Organizing Youth Multimedia Discussion Campus at EEF 2022

The Youth Multimedia and Discussion Campus ‘The Soul of Russia. The North’ will take place at the 7th Eastern Economic Forum, which will be held on 5–8 September in Vladivostok. The campus will operate in the Lounge pavilion at the Far East Street exhibition as part of the Creative Business Forum’s programme ‘Sociocultural Development of the Northern Regions’, whose initiative was promoted during Russia’s chairmanship of the Arctic Council in 2021–2023.

The event is being organized by the Innosocium Foundation, the Roscongress Foundation’s social platform, with the support of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic.

The main programme will be presented on 5–8 September, the multimedia zone will host participants on 9–11 September. The pavilion’s interior is decorated like a modern interpretation of a traditional northern chum using items that peoples of the North use in their daily lives. The pavilion will include a youth press centre, multimedia projects, an interactive map, and master classes. Public talks with representatives of the creative sector will be held in the discussion zone, which recreates the atmosphere of a hearthside conversation.

“The campus events focus on promising areas of the creative industries and the development of the social sector in the northern territories. We are devoting our main attention to the potential of the ethnic and cultural diversity of Indigenous peoples as the main driver for the development of creative projects in the Russian North,” said Yelena Marinina, Deputy CEO of the Roscongress Foundation and Director of the Innosocium Foundation.

“The Indigenous peoples of the north have been living on Yugra land for more than nine centuries. Their culture, in addition to their identity and humanitarian values, contains an important recipe for the agenda of global sustainable development in harmony with nature, conscious consumption, environmental conservation, and ethno-cultural dialogue. I believe this potential is also needed for the development of creative industries based on the cultural codes of the peoples of the North. In Yugra, more than 8,000 small and medium-sized businesses are working in the creative sector. We are expanding these opportunities for young people through schools of creative industries and grant support. We are creating conditions for creative industries to develop in the north of Russia,” Yugra Governor Natalya Komarova said.

In the media zone and the discussion zone, forum participants will have an opportunity to take part in the discussion of a wide range of creative industries, including e-sports, cinema, gastronomy, the video game industry, and tourism.

In an effort to attract young people to the creative sector, unique master classes will be held by professional designers and the youth laboratory of folk art and design for the manufacturing of amulets, national dolls, wood and bone carving, as well as items from leather and birch bark. The media zone will feature an expanded interactive map of the cultural heritage of the peoples of the North that will be specially supplemented for the Creative Business Forum at the EEF 2022 with information about four more peoples of the North and the Arctic. A video art film ‘The Soul of Russia. Creative North, presentation of the NFT collection ‘Digital Herd’, and a screening of short films on all topics of the campus will be held between sessions and discussions throughout the forum. The Youth Multimedia Discussion Campus will feature video art dedicated to the Spirit of Fire International Film Festival, which has been held in Yugra for two decades and has become a launching pad for dozens of stars of Russian and world cinema over the years.
