Salekhard to Host 4th Arctic Cultural Forum on 13–15 February
Participants in the 4th Arctic Cultural Forum, which will be held on 13–15 February in Salekhard as part of Russia’s chairmanship of the Arctic Council in 2021–2023, will discuss the digital future of libraries, how to create an appealing image of museums, as well as prospects for the development of cultural and leisure institutions in the Arctic.
More than 500 people from 16 Russian regions will take part in the event, including representatives of the federal and regional authorities, cultural institutions, non-profit organizations, public figures, and entrepreneurs.
“The forum’s themes are extremely diverse. We will delve into popular areas and spheres, and identify the best practices and mechanisms for developing culture in the Arctic regions, including based on the example of Yamal. This year, colleagues from other regions of the country will join us: Moscow, the Arkhangelsk and Ulyanovsk Regions, and all regions of the Ural Federal District,” said Yevgeny Koltunov, Director of the Culture Department of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District.
During the forum, the participants will discuss the development of cultural and leisure institutions and the creation of centres to attract the public based on such institutions, evaluate prospects for promoting handicrafts, and discuss growth points for the creative economy. In addition, librarians will explore the opportunities of digital technologies and their resources for work with visitors.
