Teriberka Arctic Festival Announces Headliners for Music Programme

The Hatters, Cheese People, Velvet, Linda, and the Drummatix project will be headlining the music programme of the Teriberka Arctic Festival. The festival will be taking place on 16–17 July 2022 in the Murmansk Region as part of the plan for the main events of Russia’s Chairmanship of the Arctic Council, which is being operated by the Roscongress Foundation.

The list of artists performing at the festival includes performers of various genres: visitors to Teriberka will be treated to folk-punk, shamanic hip-hop, melodic female rock, disco-punk, ethno-rock, and many other musical genres and styles. The programme also includes eight bands from the Murmansk region. This year, Teriberka organizers are expecting over five thousand visitors.

One of the festival’s most anticipated performances on 16 July will come from The Hatters, a major act on the national scene and one of the most significant musical breakthroughs of recent years. Taking the stage on the same day are Drummatix, a shamanic hip-hop act by beatmaker, actress, and performer Ekaterina Bardysh, and the band Velvet, sure to be of interest to all lovers of female rock and meaningful lyrics.

Festival organizers have scheduled performances for 17 July by disco-punk band Cheese People and singer Linda. The song Wake Up from the first project in 2021 topped the music service Spotify viral chart and featured in 28 countries worldwide. In turn, every performance by Linda becomes an event in itself with fanciful songs and an unusual stage performance.

“Teriberka is a musical and cultural event that takes place in unity with the unique northern environment. This year, the geography of the festival will be greatly expanded: the central location of previous years on the sandy shore of the ‘old’ Teriberka will be complemented by the nature park, the far beach, and the Ship Cemetery. In addition to the exciting musical programme, guests can also expect excursions, workshops, cultural events, arctic cuisine, and authentic souvenirs. On top of that, there will be poetry readings, theatrical performances, and one-man performances at the Ship Cemetery vantage point.

Along with all the fun, organizers are also inviting visitors to choose conscious living and make a trend out of ecological thinking. There will be a ban on cars entering the site, and at food outlets guests will be encouraged to use thermoses and reusable cups instead of disposable plastic.

The Teriberka Arctic Festival will be taking place for the seventh time. In 2021, over 5,000 participants from 27 Russian regions took part in the Teriberka Festival. The event was held as part of the cultural programme of Russia’s Chairmanship of the Arctic Council in 2021–2023. Last year, the festival won the Russian Geographical Society Award and also won the National ‘Events of Russia’ Award in the category ‘Culture. Concerts and Music Festivals’.

The event is being organized by the Tourism Committee of the Murmansk Region and the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic. The festival is being operated by the Roscongress Foundation and Murmancongress.
