8th Arctic Festival Teriberka Scheduled for 15–16 July in Murmansk Region

The 8^th Teriberka Arctic Festival will be taking place in Murmansk Region on 15–16 July as part of Russia’s chairmanship of the Arctic Council. Events are being operated by the Roscongress Foundation.

“This year Murmansk Region is celebrating the 85^thth anniversary of its founding, and the Teriberka Festival will be an important part of the celebration. In 2022, roughly 11,000 people from 34 Russian regions were on hand to take part, and this year we’re expecting at least as many,” Chairman of the Committee for Tourism of the Murmansk Region Alexander Yeliseyev said.

The Teriberka Festival seeks to unlock the tourism potential of the small territories located in Russia’s Arctic zone, develop event tourism in the Arctic, and promote local products and cuisine.

This year’s festival will feature special areas for music, art, food, sport, and shopping. Headlining the Teriberka music programme are Seville (Artik & Asti), Haru, the rock band Affinage, and the cover band Russian Woman. Visitors are also invited to check out the music programme of regional artists and attend the electronic music festival.

There will be around 20 establishments serving food at the Taste of the Arctic food court, where visitors will have the opportunity to sample traditional Arctic dishes of venison and elk, seafood from the Barents and the White Seas with cloudberry and wild herbs, original burgers, and Arctic coffee. The gastronomic event is being organized in conjunction with the Gastronomic Map of Russia federal project, headed up by Ekaterina Shapovalova.

Visitors will likewise be given the opportunity to send a commemorative postcard from Teriberka, apply for a polar explorer’s passport, play a special Arctic board game, take part in a trail run, and so much more. The free workshops being held will acquaint visitors with how to paint on a shopping bag and create decorative souvenirs like pictures, badges, and magnets for their home interiors and more.

The Teriberka Arctic Festival has grown in recent years to become the most decorated event in the Russian Arctic zone, was a prize winner at the Russian Event Awards, and made the top 50 of the National Events Calendar for the second time in a row in 2023, as well as being included among the best fairs in the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade’s 2023 Russian Trade Competition.

The 2023 festival is being organized by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic and the Committee for Tourism of the Murmansk Region with the support of the Roscongress Foundation, the Kolsky District Administration, Murmancongress, the Murmansk Tourist Information Centre, and the Gastronomic Map of Russia federal project.
